- Introduction. We’ve tried to understand the world view and interests of typical Beck reader/listener, and present what they want, in fast quick little bits. Make the website www2.0 oriented. We encourage two way participation. We post short twitter posts of Beck quotes, referencing the source, and hope people will come here and sign up or return.
- Instructions. You can use this site as a resource, contribute to it, or both.
- How can I contribute? You can contribute a response to a smear on Glenn Beck. Lots and lots of those. Or contribute links to quotes and/or video clips, or written quotes.
- I saw “blah blah blah” on the web. Can I use your site to figure out if this is an authentic Beck quote, a quote taken out of context to create a smear, or not authentic? We intend to develop the site to allow this. Here is how it will work: Enter all or part of the phrase into the search function. If the reference is a video or audio, you are likely able to bring it up. If it is to a book, get the book. That’s why we require precise sourcing of quotes that are contributed. For now try the search block upper right. It seems to work pretty well.
- I’m not interested in the quotes but I’d like to contribute a rebuttal of the recent smear article in (blah blah blah). Great! Post on those topics – Education/climate change/Government Finance – the primary topics of progressive movement. Add your article as a comment in the Smears section.
- How are quotes voted on? By users. Results are posted monthly.
- Can I get emails, twits or SMS of Beck quotes? Sure. Tell your friends too.
- Do I need to sign up to use your site? No. But if you want emails or SMS, yes for those functions. If you want to contribute, you must sign up (otherwise all the spambots would ruin the site!)
- How do I know you won’t give my email address to spammers? Because (A) we’re not stupid, and (B) we hate spammers. (C) We really hate spammers. Your data doesn’t even go outside our small group. We don’t use any third party list management services or anything like that. (D) Did I mention we hate spammers? But take note: Some robots cruise the Internet, looking for email addresses. So when you post or comment on a blog, either do not use your email address or write it like this: “MyName AT Bignet DOT com”.

- Why should I create an account? To interact with people who feel the same way you do.

- What functions may you add in the future? (A) Quote of the day, sent to subscribers via email, sms or Twitter. (B) T-Shirt contest. We could give away 500 Tshirts with the best ten Beck quotes, to people who log in and rate the best quotes. Extra prize to those who supply quotes. (C) “Funniest and most ridiculous smear of the month”. (D) Arguing with Idiots contest. And lots of other functions we are not talking about yet, too.
- For quotes to be usable in Twitter, it is best that they be less than 120 characters. If you think what you have is good but it doesn’t fit, do not alter the quote.
- What is the required format of an authentic quote. First, this is completely wrong:“Beck said blah blah blah”.
Somewhat Wrong:
“He said blah blah blah” referenced “somewhere in a 2 hour show on such and such day” link. Get real, please – no one is going to wade through 2 hours to find the alleged quote.
Right:
“He said this” About 17:26 in Glenn Beck show 04172009. With Link.
(link to the transcript or video. Do not link to another place that alleges the quote to be real. Link to original source please). Use links which have durability – If the link vanishes, I would move the quote back into an unverified or currently unverifiable category.
