Boycott Fox News: The Dog that didn’t hunt.

Color of Change has in third quarter 2009 attempted to create an advertiser boycott of Fox News.  This was in retaliation to Beck‘s labeling Jeff Jones a communist. Since Van Jones has labeled himself a communist, where was the problem?

Perhaps they do not like the idea that some say it is not fashionable for a Self Defined Communist to be a White House adviser? We’ll never really know, because after the White House did the right thing and fired Van Jones, Color of Change changed the nature of their objection:

While Van hasn’t been active in the work of ColorOfChange in recent years, we are proud of where his work las led him. After helping ColorOfChange get started in 2005, Van moved on to other pursuits. In 2007, he founded and served as the executive director of Green For All, an organization dedicated to creating opportunities for low-income communities connected to the greater effort of addressing climate change. Van now serves as Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality.

The last major update to the Color of Change website was in August of 2008. The website is generally over it’s four years of existence, heavy on accusations of racial animosity, and heavy on accusations of Bush being complicit in the Katrina problems., In 2008 it seemed to become a “Let’s get Obama elected” operation.

Curiously, though, the controversy has produced “an issue” for ColorofChange at a time when they must have noticed people were getting tired of their stale old race baiting campaigns. By going after Glenn Beck, their site traffic has jumped from 20-50K visitors/month second quarter of 2009 to aver 200K per month 3rd quarter.

Clicking a couple times should enlarge the graph.  Color of Change had activity in the “Elect Obama” period, then nothing, until Glenn Beck started advertizing them.  Color of  Change then had a new activity, which was to organize a “Stop Fox News or make them fire Glenn Beck” fun and games activity – along with of course, requesting donations.
